Log in to your WordPress admin panel

Create a new API key

Click "Add key", set the description to "AltiSeo", select your user, and choose "Read/Write" permissions.

Copy your Consumer Key and Secret

WooCommerce displays these once — copy them immediately. If you miss it, you'll need to regenerate the key.

Add your store in AltiSeo

Do I need to install a WordPress plugin?

No. AltiSeo connects directly to the WooCommerce REST API using your Consumer Key and Secret. No plugin is required on your WordPress site. It works with the built-in WooCommerce REST API that's already available on any WooCommerce installation.

What WooCommerce version is required?

AltiSeo requires WooCommerce 3.5+ for REST API v3 support. This covers the vast majority of active WooCommerce installations. If you're running an older version, we recommend updating WooCommerce.

Does it work on shared hosting?

Yes. AltiSeo works with any hosting provider that supports WordPress, including shared hosting plans (SiteGround, Bluehost, etc.), managed WordPress hosts (WP Engine, Kinsta), VPS, and dedicated servers.

How are my API credentials secured?

Your Consumer Key and Consumer Secret are encrypted with AES-256-GCM immediately upon entry — before they're ever written to our database. The encryption key is stored separately from the data. Even if our database were compromised, your credentials would be unreadable.

Does AltiSeo support variable products?

Yes. AltiSeo fetches and processes all images for variable products, including the main product image, gallery images, and variation-specific images. All variant images are processed during the scan.

Can I process only specific products?

Currently, AltiSeo scans your entire product catalog. You can then selectively apply alt-text to specific images or categories from the Image Library using filters. Selective scan by category is on our roadmap.
